Works have been performed nationally and internationally, including across the USA, in Canada, Italy, Finland, and on Italian National Radio, with performances at venues ranging from Merkin Hall (New York City) to Buntrock Hall (Chicago), and various universities, conservatories, and festivals. Michele Caniato has received the Fulbright Scholar Award, Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowship, Jasper Whiting Foundation Grant, and residencies at Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts, Escape to Create, the Adria Conservatory in Italy, and the Weston (MA) Public Schools. He is the winner of the 2019 Orchestra Composition Contest at the 53rd Contemporary Music Festival at Indiana State University, was a finalist in the BMI Foundation/Charlie Parker Composition Competition in New York, semi-finalist for the American Prize (orchestra) and is the recipient of numerous commissions from players, ensembles, and from the Center for Italian Culture at Fitchburg State University.
